The Arab Spring made its way to Egypt in January of 2011 and, for a brief time, completely changed the world Shahd lived in. She experienced the Egyptian revolution first hand as a girl, a teenager, a student, an Egyptian.
“Before the Revolution, my life was normal. You know I would get up, get on the bus, go to school, all that,” Shahd said. “For my family everything was ok.”
Rather suddenly, however, things began to change in Cairo, and soon, the rest of the world was watching as frustrated Egyptians took to the streets to protest the government.
